- 12,000 new cases of cervical cancer is reported annually
- 4,000 deaths annually from cervical cancer
Bringing awareness closer to home, 8.3 of every 100,000 Florida women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Because of the rising rate of this cancer, Jackson Hospital, Chipola Surgical & Medical Specialties – OB/GYN, and the University of Florida/IFAS Extension Jackson County, join together to bring to the community the first annual Cervical Cancer Awareness Lunch and Learn, Wednesday, January 24th, 12noon-1pm CT.
Lunch will be served during the program featuring a heart-felt presentation from cervical cancer survivor and Certified Nurse Midwife Stefanie Barnes, ARNP, of Chipola Surgical & Medical Specialties – OB/GYN.
Stefanie was diagnosed with cervical cancer in her late twenties and will share her personal, moving story with you. We are delighted to have board certified Medical Oncologist, Dr. John J. Nanfor, FACP, and Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Steve Stokes join us for the lunch.
This first-ever event will be held at the Agricultural Center on Pennsylvania Avenue, Marianna. This program is part of the Hospital’s community benefit and is offered to the community free with advanced registration. Call (850) 718-2884 to reserve your seat.
