Dawn Prietz, RN, is Jackson Hospital’s Employee of the Year 2016

Helping patients make connections

February 13, 2017 Marianna, FL -  Dawn Prietz, RN, is Jackson Hospital’s Employee of the Year 2016.  She is a 33-year employee of Jackson Hospital and works as Obstetrics nurse in the hospital’s Labor and Delivery nursing unit.

When her early ambition of becoming a full-time potter didn’t work out economically, she followed her mother’s footsteps into OB nursing.  She ultimately combined her passion for nursing with her creative pursuit as potter in a 7-day on/7-day off nursing schedule.

Dawn was surprised to be named by the Employee Leadership Committee as the 2016 Employee of the Year.  She says, “There were many other worthy candidates for this honor and I am so glad that the Pickle Program exists to recognize all employees who give a little extra.”

Nurse Prietz embodies the hospital’s customer service philosophy of giving extra when she offered her own cell phone minutes to a new mom to “Facetime” her infant’s baptism.

Jackson Hospital’s customer service ideals are outlined in its program called “Give ‘em the Pickle” which rolled out in 2012.  The hospital’s customized program with video titled “What’s your Pickle?” with Bob Farrell, produced by Media Partners™, is implemented by Chief Nursing Officer Robbin Catt Pumphrey.   “Because of our employee-focused customer service efforts, Jackson Hospital is ranked nationally in the top 20% in customer service according to HealthStream Research,” says Pumphrey.

Patients, visitors, and colleagues submit nominations of staff from whom they received superior customer service.  Each month a “Pickle” luncheon is held to recognize the top nominees.  Dawn was selected from the 2016 monthly pickle candidates and presented a check from the Jackson Hospital Foundation during a special Employee of the Year reception.

Jackson Hospital is proud to recognize Dawn Prietz, RN, and thanks her along with every employee, volunteer, and Medical Staff member for providing high-quality, leading-edge healthcare service.  Each day Jackson Hospital moves closer to reaching its vision of “being the best community healthcare system in the nation.”

With its top-ranked customer service, high quality and safe patient care, the hospital is forward-thinking in expanding needed services with a new $17M OR expansion, Chipola Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine Center, and Chipola Quick Care.  The hospital, located at 4250 Hospital Drive, Marianna, FL, has 32 physicians on its active Medial Staff.  For information on hospital services, visit www.jacksonhosp.com.  For physician referral, please call Rachel Toliver at (850) 718-2629.
